Everything about the camera

This article describes how the camera functions in oculai are used for live monitoring, documentation, and evaluation of construction progress.

Camera functions

The camera view offers various tools to monitor the construction site live, review past activities, download image material, and evaluate construction progress in time-lapse. Via the sidebar you can switch between available cameras at any time. A green dot shows you which cameras are currently online or live.

Live

In the Live tab you see the current camera image. As soon as you hover over the image with the cursor, a toolbar appears at the bottom edge:

You can zoom in and out or set the image to full screen.

To the left of the full screen icon is the construction section masks function. When activated, the defined sections are highlighted in the live image, and you can switch between floors.

With the "Synchronize view" toggle you define in the dashboard whether selected masks are displayed simultaneously in all camera widgets. Here you can read more about it.

In the camera feature itself, synchronization is not relevant, as only one camera is always shown there. If you do not want to see masks in a single view, you can hide them there independently without having to switch to the dashboard.

Time period

Via Time period you can request uncompressed 24/7 video material from the last four days:

  • Select date, start time, and duration of playback.

  • Ideal for reviewing specific activities such as deliveries or critical events, even at night.

  • Request original recordings: If you need the video material (e.g. for evidence preservation or internal investigations), you can request the uncompressed original videos via support.

Image archive

The image archive automatically saves one image per hour between 06:00 and 20:00 by default.

Functions:

  • Enlarge images by clicking

  • Download individual images

Bulk download available via the three-dot menu.

💡Function currently not supported for the Firefox browser

  • Navigate between days using arrows or date selection

  • Weather information for the respective day is displayed alongside and helps evaluate external influences

Before / After

With the Before / After tool you can compare any two days with each other.

This is particularly useful:

  • for a quick overview of progress

  • for project meetings

  • for communication with people who are not on site every day

With just a few clicks you can clearly see how an area of the construction site has changed between two points in time.

Time-lapse

In the Time-lapse tab you can choose between the daily, individual, and full time-lapse.

Daily time-lapse

The daily time-lapse is created automatically at the end of the day and shows the most important activities of the day in time-compressed form (1 image every 5 seconds). In the timeline you see colored markers that represent captured processes. With the eye icon you can show or hide them. When hovering over a marker you see details about the process.

Individual time-lapse

An individual time-lapse summarizes longer time periods, for example 30 days in a one-minute video. You select both the time period and the desired video length. Creation can take up to 60 minutes depending on the scope.

Full time-lapse

The full time-lapse shows the entire project progression from the beginning. The timeline contains green markers that indicate the start of a new floor/level as milestones. Clicking on them jumps directly to the corresponding construction phase.
