How can hidden areas be set up?

This article explains how parts of the camera image can be permanently hidden and how existing masks are removed again.

What are hidden areas?

Hidden Areas allow freely defined parts of the camera image to be censored – typically neighboring buildings, adjacent properties or public streets. The mask is applied directly at the camera and applies to all views and exports.

Censoring takes place at the camera and cannot be reversed, not even by oculai. Activity in hidden areas is not captured and is excluded from process detection. Areas that are relevant for construction progress analysis should therefore not be hidden.

❕ Only project admins can set up hidden areas.

Access via the dashboard

The camera widget on the dashboard has a three-dot menu in the top right corner. Hidden Areas can be opened from this menu.

Access via the camera features

The function is also available in the Live tab. The three-dot menu in the top corner opens it there.

Hiding an area

A window with the current camera image opens. Two options are available in the top left:

  • Blackened: the area is fully covered.

  • Blurred: the area is shown out of focus.

The area is then drawn directly on the image:

  • A click on the image sets the first corner point via Set starting point.

  • Further clicks add additional corner points.

  • To close the shape, either click the first point again or press Enter.

  • Save applies the mask, Cancel discards it.

Removing hidden areas

Reset areas in the bottom left of the window removes all drawn shapes. The change is then applied with Save. From that point on, the areas are visible in the camera image again.

❕Footage that has already been censored remains unchanged and cannot be restored.
