My schedule has changed – how can I update it in oculai?

This article describes why and how schedules are updated in oculai, how the match score evaluates structural changes, and how versioning enables a lossless planned vs. actual comparison.

Why update my schedule?

Over the course of the project, an update or change to the schedule due to delays or acceleration is not uncommon. In order to continue to provide relevant project control, it is recommended to keep the planned schedule at the latest planning status. A planned vs. actual comparison based on older planning statuses remains possible with an unchanged schedule structure.

You can upload the latest version via Schedule > Import.

Match score (%)

The match score describes the structural similarity between the currently active and the incoming/displayed schedule. The structural similarity considers the structure of the schedule (hierarchy and activities) but not the activity durations. Accordingly, a pure schedule update without structural changes would have a match score of 100%.

If the incoming schedule shows a low match score (< 50%), the structure of the plan has fundamentally changed, for example through a new division of construction sections. Such a change requires an updated project configuration from oculai. For this, either contact the oculai team, or overwrite the current schedule directly — we will receive a notification.

Versioning

oculai versions incoming schedules by default, giving you the option to show previous versions but also to fully restore them as the active schedule.

For a lossless comparison of multiple schedule versions, it is recommended to retain the original plan structure. If the schedule has a fundamentally different structure, a planned vs. actual comparison across multiple versions is no longer meaningful.
